Wiki:Invitation to alpha trials/Occupy

We're gearing up for trials of primary consensus making in the wider Occupy movement (outside NYC) and we're looking for help. Primary consensus making is a long-term process of drafting, discussion and agreement building that feeds candidate proposals to the GA, Spokes Council and other decision bodies. We'll be using the online tools of the NYCGA Open Voting Network for this purpose. In order to get started, we need to find a group of people who are:

  • Actively drafting a text and trying to reach agreement on the content. The text might be a proposal for the local GA, or a set of rules for the group itself, or any document where some level of consensus is important.
  • Discussing the text in public through a web forum, email list, Facebook, or any other text-based discussion medium.
  • Working fairly well together to resolve their differences.
  • Working outside of the immediate context of the NYCGA. Other trials (yet to be announced) are already focused on the NYCGA.

Once we locate a suitable group, we can join in their discussions and introduce them to the toolset. We'll be using the Votorola toolset for this particular set of trials. To get a feel for how it works, please consider participating in the parallel bootstrap trials.

Can you help?

We're looking for someone to sponsor a demonstration of the toolset within the group. We need someone who is:

  • Already known to a suitable group (see above).
  • Comfortable working with alpha software, which means it's often difficult to use.
