A help page is one that provides instruction to the reader. Usage example for a help page:

Help namespace

There is a help namespace. Not all help pages are stored there and that is why we created this help category. It covers all help pages regardless of namespace. All except category pages themselves:

Category pages cannot be help pages

A category page cannot itself be categorized as a help page, not unless it defines a particular subcategory of help. Otherwise all pages that belonged to the category would themselves be classed as help pages. If a category page happens to provide helpful instruction, then simply set its topic correctly. Queries for help on particular topics are expected to cover the Category namespace as well as the Help category.

Help topics and subcategories of help

Topical subcategories of help are not formalized using category pages. Instead we use Property:Topic to define the subject of each help page. For example, see the help pages under the topic of "site".
