[CB1] Proposing a bridge. Two voters propose a common abstract candidate (Q) for their respective trees (P and R). The proposal is approved in local discussions that cascade downstream (blue arcs). After approval by all downstream groups, the candidate is considered accepted and votes are duly cast (next figure). legend

[CB2] Applying a bridge. Candidate Q who was accepted by trees P and R (previous figure) now receives their votes. Concrete differences versus the candidate are erased by upstream patch flow. legend
