Overguidance is a form of broad-based system guidance in which the guided system is itself a guideway.

[O] Overguidance. A conventional guideway (bottom) is itself guided through the intermediation of an overguideway. Both types of guideway have their own lifeworld and system gaps (λ and σ).

Overguidance is sometimes represented by a more simplified schematic, as in figure LOG:
