--- Log opened Mon Dec 05 00:00:46 2011 11:22 < stephen7> Hi Michael, I browsed the forums of a 5 groups beginning with the largest. I found a few threads that are interesting though I'm not sure any would work for what we have in mind. This one is in "Arts and Culture" and is about *Drafting a comprehensive finance policy for Arts & Culture*. There are only 3 posts here. Not too exciting. http://www.nycga.net/groups/arts-and-culture/forum/topic/proposal-on-and-ethics-for-arts-and-cultu 11:23 < stephen7> Hmmm...it didn't le me paste the whole letter to you....I'll try again 11:25 < stephen7> I can see this isn't going to work the way I hoped...I'll try pasting it in pieces. 11:26 < stephen7> In "Think Tank" there's a discussion you may be familiar with...*[IDEA] Citizen-drafted Model Legislation* (12 posts). There isn't a solid proposal on the table but the similarity to what we are up to is interesting. http://www.nycga.net/groups/think-tank/forum/topic/citizen-drafted-model-legislation/ 11:26 < stephen7> Then there is the *Mike Check for President* forum with a whopping "350" posts. (I really like where this one is going) There is a lively, cross forum discussion that is definitely getting some traction. It began in "Politics and Electoral" Reform. http://www.nycga.net/groups/political-and-electoral-reform/forum/topic/mike-check-for-president-a-nota-protest-vote/?topic_page=1&num=15 11:27 < stephen7> And has since moved to "Tech Ops". http://www.nycga.net/groups/internet/forum/topic/help-needed-mic-check-for-president-web-site-and-social-media-campaign/ The only problem I see with this one is that it may have run it's course. I think they are already developing a website for this. I didn't see anywhere that it went to the GA for "approval" though. (I may have missed that.) 11:27 < stephen7> Also, I thought a bit more about how beginning our own thread (or forum) would work. It seems to me if we (you, Thomas, and I) began putting together a "project outline", using Votorola to develop it, and cross-posted our discussion in the *Structure* forum as we discussed yesterday, this would give us a chance to (1), begin the "bug" work, (2), present the "online GA/voting project" idea as well as the "technology" simultaneousl 11:28 < stephen7> and (3), create an actual living discussion and development of the "project" itself. 11:28 < stephen7> If we start small and gradually draw in interested people, it seems we could manage the growth relative to the workability of the software (???). I think we discussed this to some degree yesterday. I'm just not remembering if there was some reason you thought this wouldn't work....sorry. 11:29 < stephen7> If you (and Thomas) think this is doable...we could begin with just the basics, and then begin filling in the details from there: - Develop a scalable online forum for discussing, synthesizing, and voting on proposals within the #Occupy movement. - Set it up to facilitate participation of those unable to attend on-the-ground GA's...and to enable GA's worldwide to connect/work with each other. - Ensure that it is consensus based a 11:29 < stephen7> - Maintain a document of participation and proposal development. - ...... What do you think ??? Steve 11:30 < stephen7> I'll send this to you in an email so you can read it all in one piece. 17:49 < mcallan> hi stephen! you're no longer online, but i'll reply to your email --- Log closed Tue Dec 06 00:00:01 2011
