15:29 < mcallan> anyone know how long the website has been saying: "Please be patient as we investigate issues with the website"
15:35 < mcallan> anyone know where there's online discussion about occupy toronto? twitter is full of vapid nonsense
15:41 < markstacey> haha
15:41 < markstacey> yeah, twitter is generally... not the best platform for discussion
15:42 < markstacey> there's discussion in here sometimes, but not enough people use IRC really... most people here are just idling.
15:43 < markstacey> there's an "Occupy Canada" subforum on Occupy Vancouver's forum, you could start a thread there. But it's doubtful many people from toronto would see it.
15:46 < mcallan> markstacey: i guess they've got their hands full organizing things on the ground
15:47 < mcallan> but it's surprising they don't use the internet
15:47 < mcallan> i mean, in public
15:50 < markstacey> hmm? not sure what you mean
15:53 < mcallan> well it's a hugely prominent movement, so it's surprising there is no public discussion in toronto
15:53 < mcallan> it would help them to have some kind of online presence
15:53 < markstacey> oh definitely
15:54 < markstacey> the GA's are necessary for fair, consensus-based decision making, but informal discussion is essential for the movement
15:54 < markstacey> and the internet is the best platform we have for that I think
15:55 < markstacey> I heard from someone that there's an Occupy Canada site in the works, with forums and such built in
15:55 < markstacey> for use by all Occupy movements across Canada. It'll be a hub for contact info and such as well. I really hope that actually gets set up, it'd be fantastic.
15:56 < mcallan> so meantime, all the discussion on the net must be happening in private. it can't all be GA and face to face
15:57 < mcallan> which strikes me as foolish
15:57 < mcallan> i want to help them, but i have to take a trip downtown, and hang around the park
15:58 < mcallan> just to find contacts
16:01 < mcallan> (back later)
18:02 <@amgine> site is going to drive me nuts...
18:10 <@amgine> Markstacey: http://wiki.occupysf.org/index.php/Occupy_Toronto/map <- accurate locations?
18:13 < markstacey> not sure, I'm with OccupyNewfoundland :p
18:17 <@amgine> Bah! Whereabouts in Newfoundland?
18:19 < markstacey> St. John's
18:20 -!- amgine is now known as Amgine
18:21 <@Amgine> Where is the occupation there physically located? I need to know pretty specifically if I'm to make a map for it.
18:23 < markstacey> -52.70285,47.56724, on that map
18:23 < markstacey> harbourside park
18:24 < markstacey> no tent city down there anymore, just 2-3 central tents we all share
18:24 <@Amgine> <nods> Just a second...
18:27 <@Amgine> Do you have a twitter feed?
18:34 < markstacey> http://twitter.com/#!/Occupy_NFLD
18:34 < markstacey> also our blog is OccupyNL.ca, has most of our info on it
18:39 <@Amgine> <nods> Thanks, working on it.
18:48 <@Amgine> MarkStacey: http://wiki.occupysf.org/index.php/St._John's,_NL/map
18:50 < markstacey> nice
18:51 <@Amgine> What services does the occupation have? Do you have a google calendar?
18:52 < markstacey> yep
18:52 < markstacey> linked on the blog.
18:54 <@Amgine> <nods> Do you have a medical team on site? What are in your shared 3 tents?
18:54 < markstacey> no medical team, only a small group of people actually on-site
18:54 < markstacey> group of volunteers stay down there 24/7, 4-8 people there at any given time, most of our members only get together for events and GA
18:55 <@Amgine> <nods> Will check your calendar events. Adding more connections from the wiki.
19:33 <@Amgine> Okay, built a bit of a page on the wiki, and the map with a single point. If you have anything else, like at the portland occupy (http://wiki.occupysf.org/index.php/Occupations/USA/OR/Portland), I can put those on the map as well.
19:33 <@Amgine> Oh, the page is at: http://wiki.occupysf.org/index.php/St._John%27s,_NL
19:41 < markstacey> awesome, looks good
19:42 < markstacey> the only other thing I'd add is the facebook page, as it's how most of us communicate http://www.facebook.com/occupyNL
19:42 <@Amgine> meh. I think it looks like sheit. But not bad for 45 minutes. Adding fb now.
19:43 <@Amgine> added
21:08 -!- THE_CI_LOGGING is now known as CEM
23:14 <@Amgine> Bensaccount is doing a pretty good job of editing the Toronto page on the wiki.
