Desk daemon.
A communication hub for recombinant tools on the user's workstation. It runs in the background. It allows various client processes running on the desktop to co-ordinate for genetic exchange and other interactions. Client processes include the in-browser page daemon, and (in future) various tools that run either stand-alone, or as recombinant extensions to text editors and such.
