It sets registration properties for the transcluding page (always a top-level user page).  It also adds the page to [[:Category:Registrant]].  It is mainly for the use of area-specific registration templates, such as [[DD/t/eintragen]].

The registration properties are rendered as a series of table rows (<code>tr</code>).  In each row, the table cell (<code>td</code>) that specifies the property value is formally identified by the name of the property itself (for benefit of client-side scripts).  For example:
